Meet the Principal
Nate Baldwin knew at an early age that he wanted to help children build a strong foundation for learning and become lifelong learners. He grew up watching his mother instill a love of learning in children when she taught kindergarten in Chicago. He would often visit her classroom (when he had a day off from school) and observe as she interacted with students and taught them the building blocks of learning. He never tired of seeing the joy and excitement on a child’s face when he or she learned a new concept.
In high school, Mr. Baldwin began working with children at a day camp, offering guidance and counseling as they learned about the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Over the past ten years he has been the kindergarten director. He coordinated schedules, organized professional development and collaborated with parents.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio University and Master’s degree in Leadership Administration from Benedictine University. Before joining the Homer 33C family in 2017, he taught first and second-grade students in Indian Prairie School District 204 for 13 years. In addition to teaching, he held various leadership roles within the schools he taught. He lives in Aurora with his wife, Kathleen, and their two children.
