Meet the Principal

Lisa Figurell

Lisa Figurell is honored to serve District 33C as the Principal of Homer Jr. High School. She looks forward to building relationships with the students, staff, parents, community members, and organizations within our district to collaborate and support our students reach their academic and personal goals.  Lisa comes to Homer Jr. High with a broad range of experience in working in a variety of leadership roles across K-12 grade levels. After graduating from Eastern Illinois University in 1993, she was a  business education teacher in Pontiac Township High School for one school year, and then served in the same role at New Trier Township High School for three school years.  In 1997, Lisa left education for ten years to raise her three sons. She returned to education in Plainfield, Illinois as a teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School in the fall of 2007. She was a mathematics, Language Arts, and social studies teacher and was honored with the PTA Educator Award in 2009 and 2011 over the course of ten years at the school. In 2017, she was named Assistant Principal at Wesmere Elementary School in Plainfield, and then progressed to Assistant Principal at Aux Sable Middle School in Plainfield. During her tenure as an assistant principal, she earned a Master of Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education to develop a thorough understanding of the complexities of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Lisa looks forward to contributing to the Homer Jr. High learning community, and is excited to begin working together to make a positive impact for Homer Jr. High School and District 33C.

Lisa Figurell lives in Naperville and has three sons: Jake, Zack and Nick.
