Meet the Principal
Ohio native Troy Mitchell never expected to leave “The Buckeye State” until he was offered his first teaching position out of college in Homer School District 33C during the 1986-87 school year. He taught Physical Education at Goodings Grove School for two years before transferring to the newly constructed Hadley Middle School (formerly Hadley Elementary) in 1988. Twelve years later, he was named Dean at Homer Junior High School. In 2002, he was named Homer’s Assistant Principal/Athletic Director -- a position he held for three years before being named Interim Principal in the spring of 2004. In 2005, he was named Principal.
Mr. Mitchell received his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Kinesio Therapy from the University of Toledo, and his Masters in Educational Administration from Governors State University. He and his wife, Kelly (a teacher at Goodings Grove), live in New Lenox. They have three sons.
