Meet the Principal
Kristen Schroeder
Kristen Schroeder enjoys working with children and having an impact on their lives. She describes teaching as a “magical experience.” Kristen grew up in Chicago and decided at an early age that she wanted to do something big with her life. “I wanted to change the world,” she said. “I hoped to make a difference and have a positive impact on children and their futures.” Education afforded her an opportunity to do just that. After graduating from Keller Regional Gifted Center and Morgan Park High School in Chicago, she attended DePaul University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Physics in 1996. She obtained her highly respected National Board Master Teacher Certification in 2003. She went on to obtain her Master’s degree in 2007. She holds several teaching endorsements and has experience teaching pre-k through 8th grade. Mrs. Schroeder’s primary teaching position was at her alma mater -- Keller Regional Gifted Center in Chicago -- where she taught science, math, and reading while holding the titles of Magnet School Cluster Lead Teacher and Chicago Math And Science Initiative Specialist. While at Keller she was named on one of the the first Chicago DRIVE (Delivering Results through Innovative and Visionary Education) teachers. She earned experience as Gifted Coordinator in Tinley Park. She joined the Homer 33C family in 2008, serving as the Assistant Principal at Homer Junior High. In 2012, she was named Principal at Hadley Middle School.
Mrs. Schroeder and her husband, Eric, live in Manhattan. They have five children: Nicholas, Taylor, Vinny, Hannah and Alyssa.
