We are proud to announce that Homer 33C in partnership with the Will County Sheriff's office has been awarded a $500,000 grant to increase safety and security at all of the District's buildings. The 2018 COPS STOP School Violence Prevention Program is funded by the US Department of Justice. The following measures were identified through a District-wide security assessment as being crucial to the safety and security of the Homer 33C schools and will now be added or upgraded: secure vestibules, physical access control systems, intercoms and public announcement systems, security signage, revised office designs and security camera systems.
A special thank you to Mike Kelley, Sheriff of Will County, for partnering with the District. Also, the District is thankful to the following people for working diligently on securing the grant; Will County Sheriff's Lieutenant Nat Freeman, Undersheriff Brian Conser, Deputy Chief Dan Jungles, Lieutenant Jim Holuj, Lois Mayer, Lockport Chief Terry Lemming, James Petrakos of Tria Architecture, Karen Norville, Program & Grant Coordinator for Homer 33C, and Glen Wysong, Director of Building & Grounds for Homer 33C.
