Meet Reading goals in the IEP subgroups.

 

2006/2007 Goals:

Students will demonstrate improved reading skills as a result of teacher differentiated instructional strategies that meet the No Child Left Behind mandates.

·        Teachers will identify and provide appropriate support for those students who are below grade level in the area of reading.

·        Reading resource teachers and aides will work daily with those students reading below grade level to increase student performance.

·        Teachers will implement supplemental reading programs to increase academic success.

·        All classroom teachers, reading resource teachers, and special education teachers will attend professional development seminars in reading presented by Gretchen Courtney and Associates as well as research based reading seminars offered through the PDA and other workshop sponsors.

·        Continue developing the RTI model.

·        Students will have increased exposure to various genres of literature.

·        Parents will be encouraged to support reading by attending Family Reading Night and Reading workshops.

·        Identified TPI students will be provided academic support in reading and other academic areas.

Student math scores will continue to increase as they make connections with and build upon math ideas and concepts as directed by the No Child Left Behind mandates.

·        Teachers will be provided with grade level manipulative and other resources to enhance academic achievement.

·        Quarterly Benchmarks Exams will be given to each student to determine academic progress and to develop strategies for success.

·        Teachers will be provided grade level and cross grade articulation opportunities throughout the year to share strategies for math improvement.

·        Communicate to parents the scope and sequence of the math curriculum.

Continue technology integration, professional development and support for all grade levels.

·        Staff members will be in-serviced in the use of technology tools and software necessary to provide challenging and meaningful learning experiences for students

·        Technology will be integrated in the curriculum to enhance instruction.

·        After school Computer Club will be offered to students in grade 4.

·        Classrooms will be provided additional laptops for student use.

·        Identified teachers will be provided and in-serviced in the use of notebook laptops.

 

 

Implement and maintain research based best practices in addressing the social and emotional well being of students.

·        Implement STAR (Stop Think Act Responsibly) program at all grade levels which incorporates the six pillars of character.

·        Reinforce positive qualities through the STAR Award.

·        Involve students in Red Ribbon Week, Random Acts of Kindness, The Mitten Tree, and other activities to promote good citizenship.

·        Provide anti-bully information to all students and enforce anti-bully rules throughout the school.

·        Conduct Rainbows (for students of divorce, separation, or family death), study buddies, friendship, and new student groups as needed.
